Richardson on Royals radar?

Image for Richardson on Royals radar?

Sunderland’s Kieran Richardson is a target for Premier League new boys Reading, according to the Daily Star.

The 27-year old was linked with a move to the Royals back in April, but Brian McDermott could relight his interest in the converted left-back, who is yet to agree a new contract at the Stadium of Light. A fee of around £2 million could be enough to bring the former England international to the Madejski Stadium.

Richardson has fallen out of favour under Martin O’Neill, who has preferred Wayne Bridge as a defensive option. The former Manchester United winger signed for the Black Cats back in 2007 for a fee around £5.5 million. Brian McDermott is keen to add a left back to his squad in the summer window, with Ryan Bertrand another possible target.

Indeed haha! Not sure about Richardson’s defensive qualities though, never been a fan of converted wingers to left backs.
