Reading made it five wins out of five at the Madejski Stadium, seeing off in-form Burnley with a comfortable 3-1 win.

Reading are now just three points off the top of the table and have turned the Madejski Stadium into a fortress, scoring 19 goals and conceding just three in their five home games.

Burnley were previously unbeaten in nine games, in all competitions, before being humbled at the Madejski Stadium.

Although the Royals weren’t at their best in the first half, they were in front after just four minutes. Noel Hunt rose suprebly to meet Jimmy Kebe’s cross, as he headed past Brian Jensen in the Burnley goal.

The goal came at a price however, as Hunt took a blow to the head, and was soon replaced by Shane Long.

Burnley had plenty of possession in the first half, but never looked like doing anything with it as their players seemed more occupied with showing a complete disregard of the respect the referee campaign,Graham Alexander being the main culprit.

Reading were much improved in the second half and the game was as good as over when the other Hunt brother, Stephen, headed home on 52 minutes.

Again Jimmy Kebe was the provider, his cross found Hunt in acres of space as the Irishman headed home ot make it two nil.

The Royals continued to pressure Burnley and it was soon three nil, Shane Long getting on the end of a Kevin Doyle cross.

Burnley got a consolation goal in the 89th minute, with Reading down to ten men following an injury to Jimmy Kebe.

Burnley themselves finished the game with ten men, Stephen Jordan earning himself a second yellow card in injury time.

Overall it was another good performance by Reading, againt a strong, well organised Burnley side, who only looked a threat once former Manchester United man Chris Eagles came off the bench.
