Reading To Keep Cup Squad

Reading will not be intimidated by facing Man Utd in the next round of the FA Cup.

The Berkshire outfit have traditionally fielded a selection of squad players in Cup matches and it seems they will not change this policy despite facing one of the best teams in England and Europe.

Speaking to the Reading`s official website Steve Coppell`s no.2, Kevin Dillon said:

“I’m sure there will be changes to the team that played against Villa, but it will be quality players who come in. We’ll be changing the team – but not necessarily weakening it.

‘If you look at the squad now it’s very strong. We’ll have people on the bench who can come on and change the game if needed.’

Reading will be boosted by the return of Kevin Doyle who will be more then likely to start the 5th Round game.

Since returning from injury at the beginning of the year, Dave Kitson and Bobby Convey have not been able to win back places in a team that has not lost in the league since before the New Year.

It is almost a certainty that the two who were pivotal in Reading`s Championship winning 05/06 season will start against United.

However Greg Halford and Michael Duberry will not feature with both players being cup-tied for Colchester United and Stoke City respectively. But other new boy Alan Bennett could make his first start for the club.
