Metz’s Senegalese international Babacar Gueye has told Setanta Sports, in what is said to be an exclusive interview, that Reading are tracking him, with the intention of possibly making a January move for the 21-year-old.

Babacar Gueye is claiming that he is in contact with both Reading and Bolton, and could make the switch to the Premier League in January, “I am in contact with Bolton and Reading, my French and English agents are working on it, it is advancing,” Gueye told setantasports.com.

“It could happen during the next transfer window, I hope. But I could also be transferred at the end of the season.

“I discussed with West Brom directors in the summer and Derby County came to watch me play. I almost left but my coach refused the move to keep me.

“Playing Premier League football is a possibility for me. I think that the English clubs have appreciated my season in Ligue 2, that is why they came to me.”

With the talk of Bobby Zamora recently I said that with Leroy Lita, Dave Kitson, Kevin Doyle and Shane Long we didn’t need another striker, so unless Lita goes this is still the same view now.

I’m not so sure about this one. Not everyone is keen on Bobby Zamora but I think I would prefer to see him out of the two as he knows what football is like in the Premier League, which is something that I think we could need at this point.

    Babacar who? No thanks!

I wouldn’t write him off, but someone that knows the Premier League would be a better bet at the moment, we might not be able to afford to carry any people that need time to get up to speed in the Premier League level.
