It seems like we are half way through 2007 already but it was only 30 something days ago that it was last year.

And seeing as that means it has been 30 something days of voting on Vital Reading, we thought it might be a good time to publish the results of who was the Vital Communities “Reading Player Of 2006”!!

Although most of the player who played in the Reading fold of 2006 are worthy of a nomination we short listed six owho stuck out the most:

The talismanic defender – Ibrahima Sonko, the workhorse midfielder – Steve Sidwell, the winger who is now ruining Premiership defences – Glen Little, the captain of the whole pack – Graeme Murty, the free scoring Irish international – Kevin Doyle and the most underrated left back in the country – Nicky Shorey.

Suprisingly, club captain Graeme Murty was the player who took the least of the vote with a meagre 6% while 7 percent of the vote went to Glen Little, Steve Sidwell and Ibrahima Sonko respectively. Nicky Shorey took the second highest lot with 12% – double his captains!!

But the out and out winner, in fact the winner by a country mile, by an arms length by a H—–U—–G—–E stretch was a certain Irish striker – Kevin Doyle!

The forward proved to be a prolific scorer wherever he was notching a barrel load in the Championship and taking a fair few from his first 5months in the Premier League.

Hats off to the lad, he is a real star!

The Results is as follows:

Graeme Murty -6%

GlenLittle – 7%

Steve Sidwell – 7%

Ibrahima Sonko – 7%

Nicky Shorey – 12%

KevinDoyle – 61%
