Reading’s last home game of the season ended with defeat and made it 3 home defeats in a row.

Preston came to the Mad Stad and simply were the better side and should’ve won by more.

Brian started with a side that contained no loanee’s which was good to see. But the Royals just seemed lethargic in possession and out of ideas from the word go.

Preston, However, looked comfortable and created some great chances, only for Al-Habsi to make 3 or 4 excellent saves before the break.

Cooper actually headed home, but to be flagged for offside fairly early on.

The teams somehow went in at half time level with Preston the far superior of the two sides.

17 year old Josh Barrett was introduced at half time and he added some much needed energy.

However, after 55 minutes, Jermaine Beckford gave Preston a deserved lead after a mix up between McShane and Al-Habsi.

Youngster Barrett then had a couple of half chances to equalise, but his two shots went agonizingly wide.

Al-Habsi was then called into action again as he saved low to his left to keep it at 1-1.

Just moments later, Stephen Quinn scored his first Reading goal with a low strike from the edge of the box.

However, this lead lasted just a couple of minutes as Preston went down the other end and won it through Daniel Johnson.

A woeful end to a woeful season for the Royals.

Lethargic, Abject and really quite disappointing.
