Reading are considering a bid for Japanese international Mike Havenaar

Reading are considering a bid for Japanese international Mike Havenaar, according to The Times.

The 6’4 forward is being considering as a possible solution to Nigel Adkins’ striker search, with reportedly failed attempts for Billy Sharp and Gary Hooper. Havenaar currently plays his football in Holland, for first division side Vitesse.

His obvious strengths are his height and his aerial ability, with videos of some of his goals proving he has a very powerful header! Mike recently played in the Confederations Cup for Japan, but unfortunately finish bottom of their group, despite some good performances.

Some would argue that we already have a big striker in Pogrebnyak, but he seems to be a much better forward with the ball at his feet. This lad appears to give us that option to get the ball into the box; he could maybe prove to be the perfect strike partner for Alfie.
