Reading keen on Polish international

Free agent Sebastian Boenisch is a possible target for Premier League new boys Reading, according to Sky Sports.

The 25-year old has rejected Werder Bremen’s last contract offer to stay at the club, meaning he is free to listen to other offers. Several Premier League clubs are also chasing Boenisch, with Newcastle and Everton two other interested parties.

The Polish international primarily plays at right back but can fill in suitably at left back. Royals boss Brian McDermott will be keen to add some defensive cover to his squad, after adding some attacking elements. Would Boenisch be a good signing or do we need to give Cummings and Harte more of a chance?

As i’ve said before, right back is a position I think you need to look at strengthening and Boenisch is a top player. Does seem odd that he is happy to leave Bremen and (please don’t take offence in this comment) take a step backwards – unless of course the dream has been sold to him. With Pog in too, it looks like there is going to be one hell of a revolution going on at the Mad Stad. Still need another CB though…

Yeah, agreed, we need to strengthen the defence ASAP. Need a player in every position to be honest as Cummings is not the most experienced and Harte is coming into the final years of his career. Luke Young would be a good acquisition, wages might be a problem though.
