Vital Reading understands that Brian McDermott has enquired about the availability of Hull midfielder Robert Koren.

McDermott is believed to be an admirer of the 31-year old, whose contract is set to run out next year. Middlesbrough have also been pursuing the Slovenian captain but to no avail, with Hull dismissing their interest. However, the Royals would be able to offer more in terms of a financial package.

Koren’s creative and goalscoring abilities from central midfield has gained the attention of McDermott, who is keen to add some attacking flair to his midfield in the summer transfer window. The former West Brom midfielder scored ten goals this season. Barnsley’s Jacob Butterfield is another potential target, but is stalling on deciding his future.
