These days the antics of Reading Football Club attracts the interest of the broadsheet papers every weekend, here is what a couple of them had to say about the win at Crewe.

Premiership-bound Reading broke the record for an unbeaten run in the second tier of English football with this victory over rock-bottom Crewe. Their 31-game stretch without defeat – they have not lost since the opening day – takes them one match past the Liverpool team of 1893-94, although the hosts gave them plenty of scares along the way.

Reading at the top of the table beat Crewe at the bottom and in doing so went one better than the 1894 Liverpool team’s record 30-match unbeaten run in the second tier, but it still was not enough to impress their manager, Steve Coppell.
