Nick Blackman has been disciplined by the FA, after an incident which occurred while he was at Sheffield United.
The 23-year old will now serve a one-game suspension, meaning he will miss the opening home fixture against Ipswich Town on 3rd August. The incident occurred when the Blades played Scunthorpe last September, where Blackman had a reported altercation with a steward.
The former Aberseen forward signed for the Royals at the end of January, for a fee around £1.2 million. Despite not yet having a goal to his name, Blackman made regular appearances from the bench, under Brian McDermott and new boss Nigel Adkins.
Blackman received a fair bit of stick, but it is a massive jump from League One to the Premier League. I found that Blackman was gradually getting better and like many others in the squad, another season in the Championship could bring the best out of him.

Wasn’t really a massive jump to Reading though was it. He wasn’t worth anything like the fee Reading paid.
He showed promise, but was nowhere near good enough for the Premier League. I will expect him to be a bit-part player or to go out on loan.
