Having signed on a free transfer in the summer, Russian forward Pavel Pogrebnyak has enjoyed a decent start to life at the Madejski Stadium. However, Vital Reading looks at the ‘nitty gritty’ of his game what the stats say about Pavel’s start to his Reading career in the Premier League.

——————————————————————-

– The Pog has already proved how clinical he can be in front of goal. Despite having just 8 shots in our first six games, he has scored 2 goals, with four of them being on target. The goals came against Chelsea and Swansea.

– However, despite standing at 6’2, the Russian hasn’t done well in his aerial duels. He has challenged for 74 high balls, but has only come out on top in 17 of them. Pogrebnyak won the most aerial duels against West Brom and the least against Stoke.

– The Russian’s passing isn’t too bad either, completing 71% of his passes. He has attempted 124 and completed 88 of them, with 33 of those passes coming in the attacking third of the field.
