Reading Football Club has confirmed that thirteen players will be leaving the club this summer, while others have been offered new deals.

Brian Howard, Cedric Baseya, Tomasz Cywka and Andy Griffin are the notable names that have been released from the Royals squad, with several youth players also not earning a new contract.

The full list is as follows:

– Brian Howard
– Andy Griffin
– Tomasz Cywka
– Cedric Baseya
– Jacob Walcott
– Jack Mills
– Ethan Gage
– John Goddard
– David Murphy
– Frankie Raymond
– Cameron Edwards
– Simon Locke
– Carl McHugh

Brian Howard has only made one substitute appearance for the Royals this term, before eventually moving to Millwall on loan in January. Griffin made nine appearances at the start of the season but injury and the superb form of Shaun Cummings restricted the 33-year old.

Tomasz Cywka joined the Royals on a free transfer from Derby in January on a six-month deal, making one start and three substitute appearances. Baseya unfortunately failed to make a single appearance for Brian McDermott’s side, with injury also hindering his process.

Information on new contracts to follow tomorrow on Vital Reading……

Its a shame for Griff. At times, his experience and positional play has been amazing. I probably would have kept him on to have a steady head to go into the PL season with, but what do I know!

Agree about Griff, was a fantastic servant to the club. Felt a little sorry for Cywka as he didn’t really do a huge amount wrong but probably not up to scrtatch for Prem football.

Thanks Andy, I’m sure we’ll be sending out Antonio on loan again next season, with yourselves a likely candidate if you’re promoted.
