Reading Duo Operations Success

Reading`s injury plagued winger went under the knife for a knee operation recently.

The American left winger, who`s first Premeirship season was hampered by a knee injury sustained during the World Cup, underwent successful surgery last week.

Reading physio John Fearn told Reading`s official website of the operations success:
‘He had the op last week, it all went to plan, he’ll be on crutches for between four and six weeks.”
In the meantime Convey will stay in his native America and will not return to the UK until May.

Meanwhile, Ibrahima Sonko endured reconstructive surgery successfully. The Senegalese defender of a lynchpin in the centre of defence this season until damage to his cruciate ligaments in the 3-1 victory over Sheffield United forced him out of the side.

But despite Sonko`s progress, Jon Fearn warned that the defender is still a long way from fit:

“After a slow start he`s improved somewhat following the op. He`ll hopefully be off crutches in the next week or two. It`s all in the early stages still.”

Sonko is not expected to be ready to return to action until August. This means the defender will probably not be ready to start the season as he will more then likely miss the pre-season.
