Reading have completed the signing of Latvian captain Kaspars Gorkss from QPR, with the defender signing a three-year deal at the Madejski stadium.

The fee as always has been left undisclosed by both clubs, but the fee is believed to be around £900k.

The centre half brings a wealth of experience to the Royals, having already helped QPR to promotion last season, playing in 42 of their 46 games.

Reading boss Brian McDermott has been on the look out for an experienced defender, considering our other centre backs have an average age of 22.

McDermott was keen on Millwall skipper Paul Robinson but the Lions rejected Reading’s initial bid of around £700k so the Royals boss decided to move onto Gorkss.

This transfer could see the end of Royals summer spending with McDermott also confident we have enough fire power up front, despite some fans thinking otherwise.

Sanchez Watt and Adam Le Fondre have been linked but the Reading manager has waved away those claims, saying he has full confidence in his current strike force.
