Reading are close to signing Nottingham Forest defender Chris Gunter, after agreeing a fee with the Championship club.

The Welsh international is currently completing a medical at the Madejski Stadium, with a move to be completed either later today or tomorrow morning. The fee agreed between Reading and Forest is believed to an initial £2 million, accompanied with various other add-ons totalling around £2.3 million.

Royals boss Brian McDermott has shown his intent to sign a right-back, having enquired about the availability of Kyle Naughton, Luke Young and Southampton-bound Nathaniel Clyne. The Premier League new boys had a bid of £1.5 million rejected for the 22-year old back in May, but have finally agreed a fee.

A deal for fellow defender Adrian Mariappa has also been completed today on a three-year deal, with more on that story coming tomorrow. This will most likely conclude Brian McDermott’s dealing’s in the transfer market but are Reading fans pleased with the imminent signing of Gunter? How do Forest fans feel about this?
