Reading 6 – 0 Gallastad – Long Rampant As Royal Run Riot in Gallastad

Irish wonder-kid Shane Long hit a second-half hat trick as Reading began their tour of Sweden with confidence and composition.

Seol Ki-Hyeon also found the target from outside the box, while Dave Kitson and Kevin Doyle both showed no signs of problems finding goal.

Newly signed defender, Sam Sodje, made his debut performance, despite worries earlier in the summer that he would not feature in any of the pre-season friendlies. Sodje also came close to hitting target on a couple of occasions before half time.
The second half saw Sodje substituted for fellow African new-boy Andre Bikey; Bikey settled in well alongside Sonko who came on for Ingimasson to make up the central defensive outfit for the second half.

Injuries hampered captain Graham Murty from playing, while Glenn Little and James Harper also remained sidelined.

Marcus Hahnemann and Bobby Convey made returns to the team line-up after extra time off following their USA World Cup campaign.

The victory against Gallastad FK stretches Reading`s unbeaten pre-season run to seven out of seven.

Hahnemann, Makin, Hunt (Golbourne 50), Ingimarsson (c) (Sonko HT), Sodje (Bikey HT), Halls (Gunnarsson 52), Sidwell (Cox 52), Convey, Oster (Seol 55), Doyle (Long 60), Kitson (Lita HT)
Subs (unused): Stack
