Vital Reading Season Preview – Everton
Club: Everton
Founded: 1878
Nickname: The Toffee’s
Ground: Goodison Park (Capacity: 40,157)
When we face off: Sat 17th November (H), Sat 2nd March (A)
Last season finish: 7th – Premier League
Manager: David Moyes – The talented, young manager dismissed speculation concerned with the Tottenham job to continue the superb work he has done with Merseyside club Everton.
Having worked on a small budget for the majority of his time at Goodison Park, the Scotsman has earned many plaudits for his superb work to constantly maintain a top-half finish and push for European places.
Key player: Nikica Jelavić – Everton certainly have the capable midfield players to create chances, but they need a clinical striker to finish them, meaning it could be a big season for the Croatian.
He has already made a big impact at Goodison Park ,with an impressive nine goals in 13 games, so it could be a very prosperous season for the former Rangers striker if he gets the supply.
Season Preview: While others go mad in the transfer market, Everton as always appear under the radar in terms of dealings. With others getting stronger, I feel it could cost them.
They certainly have enough to maintain a top half finish in the Premier League, but pushing for the European places may be slightly beyond the Toffee’s. However, with Moyes at the helm, it certainly isn’t impossible.
