Poll: Would you have kept Hunt for another year?

Vital Reading is asking Royals fans for their opinion, in this week’s fans poll.

The 30-year old was released by the Royals last month, but has since joined up with former boss Brian McDermott at Leeds United. Hunt was reportedly offered a one-year extension by Reading, but wanted a longer contract – which you can’t blame him for!

Some have questioned Hunt’s abilities as a striker, but would you have kept him on for another season? He knows the Championship pretty well, but were we right to release him, in an attempt to find a younger and possibly better option?

You can vote by going to our poll in the bottom-right of the page. We will publish the results later this week.

Stupid poll. He said himself on twitter he had some conversations about an extension but he wanted two years as he wanted stability what with getting married. Looks like the club were happy to have him for a year but he wanted a longer term commitment and stability. He probably isn’t worth two years, but would have been worth one with us, as acknowledged by them having those preliminary conversations.

From what I have read from some of our fans, they would not have even kept him for another season, so the poll was mainly revolved around that, rather than the contract situation. I can understand why he made his choice, but some could well have felt that he would be a waste of wages and at the age of 30, we have probably already seen the best of him.
