With relegation looming for Reading, this could also spell a swift exit for striker Pavel Pogrebnyak.

The Daily Mirror is reporting that the Pog could be on his way back to his native Russia, if the inevitable happens and the Royals are relegated. With the Russian reportedly on £65,000-a-week, I think the wage bill would not be too sad to see Pavel depart either.

The 6’3 forward signed from Stuttgart on a free transfer in the summer, but has failed to make a massive impression at the Madejski Stadium, managing only eight goals all season. However, it is expected Pavel will return to the starting XI after serving his three game suspension, after receiving his march orders against Wigan.

I do have some sympathy for the Pog in terms of the fans’ criticism, but the role he has played for the majority of the season has been the hardest in the team, the lone striker. He is often left on his own with no team mates near him, trying to control direct, lofted balls, when it is clear he prefers the play to his feet.
