Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony has revealed that Reading have enquired about the availability of George Boyd.

The 36-year old confirmed via Twitter that the Royals have made an enquiry to the availability of the winger, whose contract is set to run out at the end of the season. Boyd is also currently on the transfer list, but has still made 30 appearances for the Posh this campaign, scoring six goals in the process.

MacAnthony, who goes very public concerning transfers with his players, tweeted that: ‘Made enquiries for GB [George Boyd] are Reading,Millwall & Crystal Palace in last 10 days with the clubs managers/dof’s speaking directly to us about him. As it stands right now, Unless its a proper offer for player of his calibre I would rather he see out the rest of his contract with us.’

The Scot can play anywhere across the midfield, but is renowned for his role on the left-wing. I’m not too sure if a winger or a midfielder is what we should be looking for at the moment, as we have plenty of options already, albeit lacking in quality. I can only see a striker coming through the door in the next few weeks.
