Pearce To Stay & Brunt Going Nowhere

It has been confirmed that Reading defender Alex Pearce will stay on for the rest of the campaign at Northampton Town.

Pearce`s loan period with the club has been extended thanks to the impact he made in his five appearances since arriving at the club in February.

Northampton boss, Stuart Gray has been pleased with Pearce`s performance at Sixfields and is delighted the youngster will be staying on until the end of the season.

Speaking to the clubs official website, Gray said: ‘We are very pleased that Alex will be staying with us for a while longer, he has done really well since coming here and I think he is enjoying himself.

‘He has shown remarkable maturity and professionalism for his age and I am sure he has benefited from his time here.

‘I’ve been very pleased with the way Alex has performed for us so far, he is still learning his trade and playing league football will be much better for him than playing reserve-team football.’

Meanwhile, Reading amongst other clubs have been warned off Chris Brunt by Sheffield Wednesday manager, Brian Laws.

Brunt has attracted a lot of attention with performances and goals this season, and the 22 year-old has attracted Steve Coppell`s attention as well as Charlton Alan Pardew and Hammers` Alan Curbishley.

Laws said, ‘Chris will attract attention, if you look at his goals this season, they would not look out of place in the Premiership.

‘I believe he will get to the Premiership. He is young, talented and he is a shining light at Sheffield Wednesday.

‘But he is not going anywhere. He is under contract, and we need players like him at the club.’
