Reading defender, Alex Pearce has joined Northampton Town on a loan period of one month.

The 18 year-old who has rose through Reading`s youth structure has been drafted in by the Cobblers as cover in light of the injury crisis that has plagued the club.

Pearce has made only one senior performance for the Royals, the youngster started the third round FA Cup home tie against Burnley.

Northampton boss, Stuart Gray was delighted that Alex decided to join his club:

‘Alex is a good young defender who will help us out over the next few weeks.
‘He’s got a good pedigree and we’re pleased Alex himself is happy to come.’

Pearce has already featured in the Northampton outfit; he was part of the starting line up that was defeated one-nil by League One highfliers Nottingham Forest.

beg your pardon- it was golborne at left back, my mistake!

Scott Golbourne’s back with Wycombe on loan, and is apparently doing well. It’ll be beneficial for Pearce to get some first team experience, and from what I hear he was their Man Of The Match against Notts Forest this weeked!
