Nicky Shorey is not the only Reading player to have been given the call up for his country, there are nine others, as well as some youngsters.

As reported on readingfc.co.uk these players have been selected for their respective countries for these matches.

Shorey is in the England squad for two important qualifying games with Israel and Russia.

Kevin Doyle, Stephen Hunt and Shane Long are in the Ireland party for matches with Slovakia and the Czech Republic.

Brynjar Gunnarsson and Ivar Ingimarsson have been selected by Iceland for qualifiers with Spain and Northern Ireland.

Bobby Convey will be in the USA squad for a friendly against Brazil on Chicago.

Ulises De La Cruz was selected by Ecuador for friendlies with El Salvador and Honduras.

Andre Bikey is in the Cameroon squad for an ACN qualifier with Equatorial Guinea.

Emerse Fae is in the Ivory Coast squad that face Gabon in a friendly.

Simon Church is again in the Wales under 21 squad, for a qualifier away to France.

James Henry is on standby for England’s under 19s’ match with Belarus.

It is a good selection of players called up for their countries, Reading just have to hope that they all come back safe and well.

It is good to again see so many players called up, a sign of the times at Reading. Just come back unharmed.
