Oster Could Quit Reading

John Oster has revealed he may be forced into leaving Reading for pastures new because of the lack of first team oppurtunities open to him there.

Oster has featured in the team as a substitute in many of this seasons league games and has featured regularly in Reading`s cup sides but a long spell in the first team has not presented itself for him:

“I could get back in the team, but all the indications are that I`m not going to play so we`ll see what happens.”

Oster has waited patiently on the sidelines all season while first Seol Ki-Hyeon occupied the right flank and then a returned to fitness Glen Little took the role.
“It has been a mixed season for me, my situation isn’t ideal. If it remains the same then I will probably look to go elsewhere and get some football.”

The 28-year old is signed to Reading until the end of the 2007/08 season but a clause in his contract means he can move on should such a deal become a possibility:

“There is a clause in my contract (allowing me to leave), but the manager is fair. He helped Chris Makin get away when Southampton came in for him so I don`t think it would be any different for me.”

Meanwhile, Oster has suffered from frustrations in the international forum as well.

Since John Toshack has taken charge of Wales, Oster has found his international career has come to a sudden stop and the winger is bemused as to why:

‘He hasn’t given me an explanation. I don’t know anything about the bloke. I have never spoken to him at all or ever come across him. So I don’t know if he just doesn’t like me as a person or a player or what.

‘But there’s no doubt I have got more quality than some of the players he is putting in the squad.”
Wales have two big European Championship qualifiers against the Republic Of Ireland and San Marino this weekend but Oster will have no part in these:

‘Unless John Toshack phones me up and explains why he has left me out and picked players from Yeovil and Shrewsbury etc then I personally don’t want to play.

‘Craig Bellamy phoned me up the other week asking me to speak to him [Toshack], but there’s no way I’m going to.

‘He is obviously too stubborn a person to speak to me and so that’s the way it is.

‘But I will be watching their game. I obviously want the lads to do well.’
