City out to tame Reading’s Actim ace.

Reading goalkeeper Marcus Hahnemann could be a busy man on Saturday according to the Actim Index, the official player ratings system of the Barclays Premier League.

The big American has been solid as ever this season, ranked as the sixth-best keeper in the division so far with 76 saves, only two behind leaders in the category, Brad Friedel and David James.

But with the Royals heading to Manchester City to take on Sven-Goran Eriksson’s men this weekend, he is likely to be given another tough test at Eastlands.

The hosts have won all seven of their home matches this season, scoring 11 times and conceding just twice, and can boast nine players in the current Actim Index top 100.

Summer recruits Elano and Martin Petrov – in fifth and sixth place respectively – are not shy in front of goal, Petrov having 21 shots on target and his Brazilian team-mate 18.

Only Manchester United starlet Cristiano Ronaldo has a better accuracy in the whole division, with an incredible 36 shots on target this season.

The Actim Index is calculated using a unique mathematical formula that rates each player’s contribution be it goals, shots, passes, dribbles, tackles, crosses, saves, clearances, blocks, interceptions, assists, clean sheets, time on the pitch or number of points gained by the team with marks deducted for red and yellow cards.

I think it is safe to say that Hahnemann is in for a busy afternoon against Man City, but if he is at his best maybe the poor away form can end?

could a good performance earn him the contract he desires?

  • Madejski Royal says:

Good performance or not I think he will get the contract, he just needs to be patient.
