No More Christmas Gifts for Rivals

Graeme Murty has declared his team must stop giving out Christmas gifts in the festive fixture period.

Well, maybe not word for word, but the Royals Captain insists that his side have got to get it together in time for their next fixture.

Reading went behind against Newcastle only to turn the tables and lead 2-1 and end out losing 3-2, this too was the case at home to Blackburn where Reading led the game but ended up losing 2-1.

Reading showed great character and dominated the first half of Saturday`s game with Blackburn, but the team came out for the second half a completely changed side, and if that wasn`t bad enough the Rovers upped their game greatly:

‘We didn’t turn up in the second-half. Credit to Blackburn, but the blame lies with us.” Murty said.

‘Our passing wasn’t there and we lacked communication. I don’t know why, which is fairly disconcerting. It`s the first time this season we’ve been found lacking.’

‘We need a good week’s training under our belts. We’ll study the video of Blackburn closely and have a good, honest discussion.”

‘The Premier League is fantastic for punishing you if you’re even slightly off your game. We must eradicate that side of us because we won’t get away with it at this level.

“We need to put it right and get back to what we do best because it’s a very, very unhappy dressing room at the moment.

With tough away fixtures at Man Utd and Chelsea coming up the Royals have to be at their best.

But the Reading cpatain refuses to get nay further ahead of himself then the next fixture:

‘People need to take a long, hard look at themselves and show a response because we now have a massive game coming up against Everton.”

Meanwhile, Kevin Doyle is adamant that he isn`t he worried about losing his scoring touch in the past three games.

The Republic of Ireland international was hyped in the media after scoring a goal a game in the previous four matches and taking a place in the top goal scoring charts:

‘There never has been, nor will there ever be, a striker in the world who scores in every match.’

‘You’re always going to have spells where you don’t score for a couple of games but I’m not worried about it,” maintained Doyle.

Speaking about Reading`s recent run, he added: ‘Normally when we go in front in games we win. Losing from that position doesn’t really happen to us but that’s twice now after Newcastle as well.

‘It’s a bitter pill to swallow and we’ve got to learn from those mistakes and put them right for Everton.’

You have to applaud Murty’s attitude in coming out and saying that the team have been on a poor run as of late. Hopefully the rest of the squad share the same view, meaning they’ll all be pushing for 3 points when Everton come knocking.
