Newcastle game postponed

The heavy snow sweeping the country has caused the game against Newcastle at the weekend to be postponed. Whilst the pitch is likely to be playable with the clubs undersoil heating, supporter safety is the reason for the postponement.

The areas surrounding the stadium have been under snow since Tuesday and with the temperatures not expected to rise above freezing anytime soon, the decision has been made early to give supporters as much notice as possible.

The club said, ‘Our supporters safety is paramount, we take the matter very seriously and have made what we see to be the most sensible and professional decision.’

A new date has not yet been set and supporters will hope that the weather improves ahead of next Wednesday’s FA Cup replay with Liverpool at Anfield.

Sensible decision by the club and hopefully we will have turned our season around by the time the game does get played!
