Reading have appointed Steve Head as their new head of scouting and recruitment.

Steve joins from fellow Premier League side Fulham, where he was head of European scouting and also lead a team in opposition scouting, similarly to Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas. He also was born in Reading, having spent some of his youth career with the club and furthermore, playing alongside the iconic Robin Friday.

Speaking to the Official Reading FC website, Steve said: ‘Reading`s record in the transfer market is absolutely fantastic, a lot of credit must go to Steve Shorey and the boys who do a fantastic job. With the new ownership we are definitely a growing club who are looking to expand, build and develop into some of the European markets.’

Head will mainly lead European scouting at the club, as they look to expand their scouting network around the globe, with experience that has stretched over 20 seasons in the Premier League. As well as being a UEFA ‘A’ qualified coach, Steve coached a strong Southampton under 18 side for nearly ten years.
