Reading captain Graeme Murty has been recalled to the Scotland squad after a two year absence.

Scotland will take part in the Kirin Cup in Japan and Murty will be in the squad that faces the hosts of the competition on May 13th.

Murty has earned one cap, which came in 2004 when he came on as a second half substitute in a game against Wales which the Scots lost 4-0.

But now he is back, being picked for the first time by manager Walter Smith and the player is looking forward to it.

Speaking to the club?s official website he said: ‘I am a bit surprised because sometimes you think these things might have passed you by, but obviously my Reading teammates have helped me catch the eye of the manager again, so I’ve got to thank them for all they’ve done this season.

‘Hopefully I can reward them with a little bit of a display and a few caps now. It’s something you wait and hope for and I’m just going to go and enjoy myself, like I did last time.?
