After opening his account on the weekend, Sean Morrison has said his teammates need to get in on the act.

Out of the 20 goals Reading have scored this season, the strikers have contributed to half of them, with Danny Guthrie contributing a further four goals. The likes of Hal Robson-Kanu, Garath McCleary, Royston Drenthe and Jordan Obita have only contributed two goals so far this campaign.

Speaking to the Reading Post, Morro said: “We can`t rely on Alfie, Pav and Blackie to score all the goals. Everyone has to chip in like Danny has done. He`s scored four already this season. The more players that can score is only going to benefit the team.’

‘Me and Pearcey have decided we`re going to have a little competition. So it was nice to get on the scoresheet but I would have taken a 1-0 with someone else scoring. I have to keep that
[the winner’s stake] between me and him. It`s just about a bit of personal pride really.’

I can see where he is coming from, I would have expected a fair few more goals to have come from the midfield this season, especially HRK and McCleary. You can talk about needing a ’20 goal a season’ striker all you want, but our promotion in 11/12 proved as long as you get goals all across the squad, you don’t necessarily need this.
