Reading FC will hold a minutes applause at the beginning of tomorrow nights game against Peterborough United, in memory of footballing legend Gary Speed who very sadly died yesterday.

The Leeds and Newcastle legend was found dead at his home yesterday morning in Cheshire. He was loved by many people in and around the game, with some of our squad effected, especially our Welsh contingent who played under him.

Simon Church on his twitter account: ‘I can’t believe it Wat a great man and a true welsh footballing legend a great inspiration to all. RIP Gary Speed’

Hal Robson-Kanu similarly stated: ‘So shocked! Rest in peace Gary Speed. Devastated is an understatement. Condolences to his family and loved ones. True welsh legend RIP’

Tributes from Reading boss Brian McDermott, defender Andy Griffin and Royals legend Ady Williams can be seen in tomorrow nights programme notes.

From everyone at Vital Football and Vital Reading, we would like to send our dearest condolences to the family and friends of Gary Speed during this obviously distressing time.
