Striker Miku revealed he had the chance to join Reading on deadline day, but opted to join SPL side Celtic instead.

The 27-year old Venezuelan was seeking a move away from his current side Getafe and decided to join Neil Lennon’s Celtic side. Miku revealed that both Swansea and Reading were interested in his services, but felt that the lure of Champions League football with Celtic was too much of an opportunity to turn down.

Speaking to the Daily Record, the forward said: ‘Swansea and Reading both wanted to sign me in the summer and Getafe wanted money for me before the season started but I said I fancied moving to a big team. They are both good teams but for me, it would be similar to Getafe.’

‘Celtic is different. It has the support, the history, the Champions League. There is more here for me. I want to win three trophies and I think we have the team to do it. I was the best striker at Getafe. I played every game and felt if I was to go to another team and another country, it would have to be a really big one.’

Good point, it was probably the lure of Champions League football that made his mind up, just saying the fans to get in their good books early on.
