Midfielder signs contract extension

Reading midfielder Jem Karacan has signed a contract extension with the Royals, committing his future to the club until the summer of 2015.

The 23-year old’s previous contract was due to run out at the end of this current campaign, but despite speculation over the past few weeks of breakdowns in talks, Karacan has put pen to paper. He has made 124 appearances in a Reading shirt, scoring on seven occasions.

The Turkish U21 international has spent his entire playing career with the Royals, having made it through the academy system. Jem was a crucial figure in the successful Championship campaign last year, also coming second in the vote for Player of the Season.
