Reading midfielder Mikele Leigertwood has revealed that he is nearly ready to play again.

The 30-year old has not appeared for the Royals since the end of March, after picking up an injury on his knee, that required surgery over the summer. However, the former QPR player returned to training in September and is set to play for the under 21 side on Monday.

Speaking to the Reading Chronicle, Ledge revealed: “I`m training with the team again now which is great and I`m building up my fitness. I hope to play for the Under 21s soon and at the moment, I feel fine. I needed to have surgery towards the end of last season.’

‘Before that I was just getting through games, it was affecting me a lot. I would have good days and bad days, but it got to the point where the pain was unbearable and the experts said I needed to get it done. I`m glad I did because it gave me the summer to recover and now I`m ready to play again.”

Whereas Brian’s focus was more on the wings, Adkins seems to have more of a focus on centre midfielders, which would work to Ledge’s advantage. I still think he has something to offer the side in the short-term, especially with Jem out for a while now.
