Reading boss Brian McDermott was over the moon with his teams fight back last night, saying they showed great spirit to gain the victory.

The Royals came from two goals down to take victory in the last 18 minutes, thanks to goals from captain Jobi McAnuff and strikers Mathieu Manset and Adam Le Fondre.

McDermott reflecting on the win said:
‘You’ve got that (spirit) or you haven’t. It comes with results and it comes over time,’ he said. I’ve been lucky enough to have such a good group and we’ve still got that spirit and you have to maintain that.’

Reading are making something of a revival in recent weeks, being unbeaten in the past three games and taking two victories. The 50-year old was also full of praise for the goalscorers.

“Alfie got the second goal and that is what he`s all about, it was a trademark goal. Our substitutes came on and did well and that is why we are such a tight-knit group’

Assistant manager Nigel Gibbs’ father passed away last week and the squad were quick to deidcate the win to the former-right back.

The Royals boss told the Reading Post: “Nigel`s father passed away last week so all the players to a man came over to Nigel at the end and we were absolutely delighted for him. He is doing what his dad would have wanted him to do.’
