Reading manager Brian McDermott has stated that he wants to make the Madejski a fortress again, following three straight wins at home, scoring nine goals in total in the process.

Before these victories, the Royals only managed to pick up 10 points from a possible 27 points, losing three games. However, with three very impressive victories in the bounce, the Royals boss is keen to make it a fortress again.

He told the official RFC site: ‘We’re trying to turn the Madejski into a fortress. They’ve won two and drawn one so are running into form – but we will just try to do our stuff at home, as we always do. We want to be right in every single game. We drew a lot of games last season.

‘We’re doing all we can to win games, as you saw early against Brighton. We’ve learned a lot from last season, we just focus on the games coming up. We’ve got great competition in the squad, a great bunch of people. Those not in the side create the atmosphere, they’re so important to us.’

Some of the Royals’ best home form came under former boss Steve Coppell, who in the 2005/06 Championship winning season, triumphing in 19 of 23 home games and losing just once.
