McDermott – Long’s an honest player

Long recieved his second red card of the season against WestBrom in the 5th round of the FA cup but Brian McDermott was not pleased with the decision.


‘He just mistimed a tackle, I don’t know if he caught him or not. But in this day and age the referee’s can’t get their red cards out quick enough.’


He went onto say how Long is an honest player and hasn’t gone out to hurt any, before heaping praise on West Brom.


‘I think they will be playing in the Premier League next season, they have really really good players all over the pitch and fair play to them they kept going at the end.’


Despite being hit by a late goal, McDermott’s side will go to the Hawthorns for the replay full of confidence.


‘The late goal has just knocked the gloss off our performance but we will definitly go to the Hawthorns full of confidence. This game was a great advert for the Championship.’
