Reading manager Brian McDermott is reportedly keen on signing Blackburn striker Jason Roberts on loan, in an attempt to bolster his attacking options in the upcoming season.

The Royals boss has been promised some funds by the new Russian owners, with Roberts quite high on his wish list. The 33-year old has struggled to claim a starting birth at Ewood Park and is widely expected to leave in this January transfer window.

Johnny Fordham of the Reading Post asked McDermott about the matter and posted on this Twitter account: ‘McDermott is seriously looking at getting Jason Roberts on loan until the end of the season. Developments likely this week’.

Rumours have been constantly circulating since this proposed takeover, with the likes of Billy Sharp and Jordan Rhodes even being mentioned, despite interest from Premier League sides.
