Reading manager Brian McDermott has credited a fantastic victory and display against Birmingham City which the Royals won 1-0, winning for the first time in five attempts.
Striker Noel Hunt scored a 75-minute winner to break down the best defence in the league and the team that were in unbeaten in nine games and doing very well in the Europa League.
McDermott told the official RFC site: ‘It’s a well-earned win and I think it’s been coming over a period of time. We’ve done well in other games and should have won, but ‘should haves’ are no good, you have to go out there and do it.’
The 50-year old added: ‘Psychologically that is a really big three points. We kept going, got a late goal and might have got more, but in fairness Feds also made saves in the first half. Our team is evolving well, there’s 16 games gone, plenty of points to play for.’
The Reading boss was also full of praise for Man of the Match Joseph Mills. Good for Joseph, I’m delighted for him. It’s never easy to play against Burke, he’s a good player but he matched him, pace wise as well.’
McDermott and his squad now have a two-week international break where they can re-charge the batteries for the visit of Cardiff City on 19th November.
