McDermott delighted with Donny win

For the first time this season the Royals recorded back to back league victories and Brian McDermott maintained his 100% permanent record as manager. He was clearly delighted afterwards and told Sky Sports,

‘Obviously when they scored the penalty and we got the sending-off it affected the game mas-sively, but it think it was a decent game for the fans. To come here and get the win was fabulous.’

A nervous ending was guaranteed when Matt Mills was sent off for a harsh handball on the line and McDermott reluctantly accepted the decision.

‘I haven`t seen it yet, but it looked like it hit his thigh and then his hand and you can`t call that handball, but we have to deal with it.’

In the absence of Mills, on loan defender Zurab Khizanishvili came on to play the closing stages at centre back and put in an admirable performance. He now looks set to replace the suspended defender for Tuesday’s visit of Plymouth and McDermott has faith in the Georgian defender.

‘I thought when Khizanishvili came on he was really assured. He`s a really good signing for us and is a good character around the place with the younger guys, you cant get enough of people like that.’

All eye’s now turn to Plymouth on Tuesday and McDermott will be hoping to make in three in a row.
