Reading manager Brian McDermott has voiced his dismay at yesterdays referee Andy Woolmer, after he disallowed Kaspars Gorkss an injury time goal at Selhurst Park.

The game finished 0-0, in a match which the Royals were the better team and played very well against the team that were unbeaten in 6 and sitting in 4th place in the Championship.

McDermott told the RFC official site: ‘We’ve just seen it back again and Alfie’s not even close to the goalkeeper and I don’t know what the referee has seen.’

‘I wanted to make sure I had got it right and that I knew why the referee had ruled it out. So I’ve seen it back over and over again, nine or ten times, and I asked the referee what he’d given and he said it was a foul on the goalkeeper.’

Reading had a number of opportunities in the second period, with Hal Robson-Kanu having the best of them. ‘There wasn’t enough pace on the ball for Hal’s header, it came to him a bit slowly and a bit more pace on it and I’m sure he would have scored.’

The Reading squad and McDermott will now move to Tuesdays game against Nottingham Forest, who sit in a surprising 20th spot.
