Reading captain Jobi McAnuff has said that the Royals squad are looking forward to playing football again, following a three-week break.

Brian McDermott’s side have not played in the Premier League since their 4-2 loss to Chelsea back on Wednesday 22nd August, due to the postponement of the Sunderland fixture and the international break this week. However, the 30-year old has reiterated that the Royals will be fit and ready for their encounter with Tottenham on Sunday.

Speaking to the Official RFC website, McAnuff said: ‘We want to do as well as we can this year, you look at the clubs last year who showed they can easily compete – then this season West Ham have started really well, Southampton have nearly beaten Manchester United and Man City so there`s no reason why we can`t come up and be very competitive.’

“It`s all to play for, we`re at home and we`re going to go for it. We did really well against Chelsea and were unfortunate not to get anything. We`re going to try and win every game we can and we`re looking forward to the game. It`s been a strange start to the season, with the Chelsea game moved and the postponement at Sunderland – so we can`t wait to get going again.’
