Reading have appointed winger Jobi McAnuff as the new club captain, following the departure of former captain Matt Mills.

The 29-year old recently signed signed a new three-year deal with the Royals and has been quoted saying he finally feels at home with the Berkshire club after spells with five different teams including Watford and Crystal Palace.

He told the Reading Post: “I jumped at the chance and it is a massive honour to captain a club like Reading.”

This comes following the departure of former defender Matt Mills, who made a £5m move to Leicester last week and the free transfer of Ivar Ingimarsson to Championship rivals Ipswich Town.

McAnuff has worn the armband on many occasions in Mills` absence and has made 63 appearances for the Royals, scoring 8 goals in the process.
