Reading`s Czech midfielder Marek Matejovsky has revealed that he is expected to be ruled out of action for around six weeks following his ankle injury at the hands of the Turks.

Matejovsky suffered ankle ligament damage in Czech Republic’s dramatic Euro 2008 3-2 defeat to Turkey on Sunday night.

Early indications were inconclusive as to how long the midfielder would be out of action for, however, Matejovsky has suggested that he could be sidelined for up to six weeks, meaning he could miss the majority of Reading`s pre-season preparation.

He said, ‘According to the doctors a ligament in my right ankle is torn.

‘We will know more after a detailed investigation. They say it looks like I will be under treatment for six weeks at the least.’

This news will come as a big blow to Royals boss Steve Coppell, who as a reaction to this, could be forced to dip into the transfer market sooner rather than later.
