Reading midfielder Marek Matejovsky has given the club a scare after he was stretchered off in last nights game for Czech Republic, as they were beaten 3-2 by the Turks.

Matejovsky was an unused sub in the first game, but started both the game against Portugal and last night’s defeat to Turkey.

Marek was stretchered off just before half time, and it appears as though he has damaged his ankle ligaments.

The extent of the injury is not yet known.

Reading physio John Fearn said, ‘I have spoken to the Czech medical team and they’ve confirmed it is an ankle ligament injury.

‘Marek will now have a scan in Prague to ascertain the extent of the damage.

‘We’ll continue to liaise to decide on his recovery process but it is too early to predict how long he’ll be out.’

With Reading set to sell fellow central midfielder James Harper, the Royals could be facing a midfield crisis if Matejovsky’s injury is too serious.
