Reading striker Mathieu Manset is on the verge of joining Chinese side Shanghai Shenhua, according to some reports coming from the country.

The deal proposed is a six-month loan deal but some reports are even stating the move could be a permanent one for around £750k. If the move was to be completed, Manset could be lining up alongside Nicholas Anelka, who joined the Chinese giants in December.

The 22-year old has been pushed further down the pecking order with the signing of Jason Roberts and hasn’t appeared in the league for several months now. He has also publicly admitted his frustration at not getting into the team on a regular basis.

The former Le Harve striker has only made eight starts for the Royals since signing from League Two side Hereford in January last year. He scored five goals in that period, with the majority of them coming off the bench.
