Reading striker Mathieu Manset has admitted his disappointment of being on the bench most of the time for the Royals, saying he wants to start games and make a difference.

The 22-year old Ivorian has been given the tag ‘superb sub’ by many Reading supporters for his ability to come off the bench but has said he would rather start games, having only started two this season.

Manset told the Reading Post: ‘It’s the manager’s choice so I have to keep trying and working hard to get in the team. It’s tough coming off the bench in games.

“I need to try to do something magic to try to change the game, but it is not easy to do that. It’s not very nice to be on the bench all the time and having to watch your friends play. I want to score and help the team.”

Since signing from Hereford in January this year, the former Le Harve forward has made 21 appearances for Brian McDermott’s side, scoring 5 goals.
