Reading have suffered a double injury loss ahead of the Premier League’s return to action this coming weekend.

John Oster, just returning from an ankle injury was forced off due to injury in a recent reserve game but it was hoped that this was merely precautionary, but it has been confirmed as a reoccurrence of his ankle problem, and he is now likely to be out for a further six weeks.

Shane Long will join him on the sidelines after picking up a groin injury on international duty with the Republic of Ireland. The striker came on as a substitute against Germany only to pick up a groin strain and has since withdrawn from the squad.

I’m very sad for Oster, as he looked like coming back only to see this happen again. It was hoped it was only precautionary but it has been proven otherwise. Long will also be a miss, but this now gives the other three strikers a chance to make their mark.
