The additions of Andy Griffin and Zurab Kizhanishvili have played a major part in the clubs upturn in fortunes from January onwards, whilst left back Ryan Bertrand has been virtually ever present. In fact he has only missed 1 game all season and that was because he was injured.

Bertrand reflected on his tim at the Madejski Stadium and he told The Official Site, ‘It’s sad to go because its a really good place to come and work, its been a pleasure to come in and train with the boys and coaching staff every day.’

Whilst Bertrand has clearly enjoyed playing regular football in the Championship, he has aspirations to play in the Premier League and would clearly love to get in the Chelsea team. He refused to be drawn on what the future held for him, ‘I’m not sure what will happen, I will wait and see what Chelsea’s plans for me are.’

Andy Griffin meanwhile has revitalised his career at the Madejski Stadium and he is clearly grateful to Brian McDermott for that. ‘I have been very impressed by the manager, I had more or less a year off before this season so I appreciate him for giving me that chance.’

Whilst he is out of favour at Stoke, he has two years left on his contract and is not likely to be allowed to leave on a free.

Zurab Kizhanishvili is also at the end of his loan spell from Blackburn, however he is an injury doubt and could miss the final game against Preston.
